Strongly reminds me of the japanese principle of hara hachi bu - eat to 80% fullness. I found this post great, i have always struggled with overeating because in my family, food was used as comfort and as a pacifier for emotions. This is very, very hard to stop. Just yesterday i decided to try hara hachi bu, instead of cutting out entire food groups or counting calories, which always left me with meals that did not satisfy my tastebuds. I had a similar thought process as you. I thought: what if i could just rely on my body's natural cues to tell me what foods and how much of it my body needs to thrive? I guess this is a process, as years of ignoring natural cues have to be unlearned. But i will start with 80% fullness, because as you correctly stated, eating more of something delicious does not make it more delicious. Its quite the opposite and it leads to regret and shame. Thank you for this great read!
