Do you worry about the long-term viability of living in the Southwest when it is facing so many water shortage issues? For example, Arizona recently limited residential construction in parts of Phoenix due to a lack of available water.

Nope. Vegas is one of the most water efficient cities, has 10 years of water "banked" in Lake Mead because it uses less than its allocation every year, and if Lake Mead does drop to dead pool (in other words, California can't physically get water from it anymore), Vegas still has a deep enough straw.
