Raynd is able to pull people in quite easily with her writing, so it is a good idea to try and see if you can be somewhat critical of the reality she depicts.
I would recommend reading the Illuminatus! trilogy or "The Brothers Karamazov" (any Dostoevsky, really) to break the spell a bit. ;)
