There is a thing called the shopkeeper's privilege that applies to allow store owners to make sure you haven't shoplifted, but the details vary considerably from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. As for #7, banks are only supposed to pay based on the written words and not the numbers. The numbers are for convenience only but have no legal effect.
