I'd be interested to hear your ideas on a philosophy or aesthetic of travel (a la the 'What's the point of Minimalism' post a few years ago). I've spent time over the last year trying to reason toward a style of travel that prioritizes the things I value in life. Still undecided.
A few thoughts:
I'm conflicted with short term travel in same way I'm conflicted with amassing many possessions. In your minimalism post, you came to the realization that minimalism is about, "having only things that matter." I also hold this sentiment and think "doing only things that matter" is an important corollary. Neither is about minimizing, but rather making the best use of the things you choose to own (and creating better things that don't exist) & using your time/abilities in a way that suits these principles.
So what does meaningful travel look like? (not rhetorical).
