2013 has been the biggest year of my life. Between the birth of my son, starting a business, working with Tynan on his pack, returning to school, and educating myself along the way; I have been pretty busy!
For 2014 I know what needs to be done.
I am going to get my wife her drivers license ASAP. She is turning 22 in a week without her license yet and I feel it's my fault. There are a few other things she and I need to work on together as well like eliminating most of our things. We have noticed that we only spend our time with Walter, working, or on our computers doing something; but we have a television, Wii, full wardrobe of clothing, old toys, etc. She and I both have been slowly donating, selling, and trashing things while fixing up what we are keeping.
The potential final version of Tynan's life nomadic pack will be completed first thing. He and I have been talking about changes to his design and I have been coming up with new and easier ways to construct the pack along the way as well as discovering different materials that would be great to see in this market, but he'll get his pack mid to late January, depending on shipping and I'd love to see what other changes he thinks might be needed.
I need to add more to The Poor Man's Tailor. I'm passionate about making that suit for myself! My dad gave me a few of his tailored suits from the 1990's that I have been looking at for some insight on how these things are made, but haven't updated the blog yet since I am still working on my shoe tutorial. I'm going to show viewers how they can make a lightweight backpacking quilt, a tarp, a simple backpack, shoes, hopefully some parts of the suit, as well as a whatever else I can come up with. The goal here is to avoid machines as best as possible, but on the quilt and tarp they will probably be necessary.
