I stand corrected on the McDonalds non-ownership of Chipotle. However my comment was not meant to imply corporate or nutritive evil on the part of McDonald's or Chipotle's. If you look across many organic retail brands, they've been bought up by the likes of Nestle and such. I mistakenly assumed McDonald's investment in the popular and lucrative market trend was enduring, same as the others.

Ironically, Chipotle is owned by... McDonald's.

Reply to Being Your Own Boss

I've only recently come to recognize this viewpoint as it pertains to work, but I've been developing in this direction for years in the areas of religion, health/diet, and personal relationships. It seems to help when a concrete and rational response to societal pressure is present; even to the point of feeling that conforming to social norms moves me backward. While it makes the world appear broken, controlled and ineffective, it tunes my life for greater opportunities to achieve what I want.

Reply to A Practical and Sane Guide to Eating Healthy

Since you choose what you eat for long-term health and longevity, I highly recommend a read of Nora Gedgaudas' book 'Primal Body, Primal Mind.' As a thee-time vegetarian, having flirted with veganism, and dabbled in herbs and natural health since I was a kid, I've had the same goals and pretty much ate and supplemented according to the best and most cutting-edge natural diet info most of my adult life (I'm 36). I don't want to be sick, I don't want any so-called 'hereditary' or 'genetic' maladies, and my older brother's recent fatal heart trouble had me re-evaluating everything I'd ever read. Robb Wolf's 'The Paleo Solution' was an excellent introduction to the paleo diet, however Nora takes everything to the next level.
