Have to disagree with this, a persons discipline is unique to them and often is influenced by what they are doing vs. what they wish to be doing. I know quite a few friends who went to college only to party and drop out...now saddled with debt and trying to figure out how to make it. I've other friends who never went to college and are wildly successful. There are so many extraneous factors at play...its rather hard to separate a quality like discipline from the ether without getting false positives.

I agree as well, with caveats. For some skills, college is needed...think doctors, lawyers, architects, engineers and the such. I never even graduated high school, as I've always wanted to take my 'own path'. Armed with only a GED and computer knowledge gleaned from old computing days I am now bringing in over 180K/year, living in New York with quite the social life.

This method is not for everyone, but it works for some. Often it depends on the drive, ambitions and what people seek to do with their lives within moments and periods of time.
