It seems like a bad idea to eat such a non-varied diet... what if there's some critical nutrient that isn't present in either meal?

Sounds like Tynan has reversed his negativity bias (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negativity_bias) in to some kind of positivity bias...

Many books are pretty lame.  I wouldn't be surprised if reading the right subreddits is a better use of time information-wise.  Not good for your attention span though.

Most people having kids aren't as intelligent as Tynan.  There's dysgenic pressure going on right now--the population is getting stupider because educated women have fewer children than less educated women.  If anyone as smart as Tynan wants to have kids, I'd say go for it.

If Erin is really a psychic, she should go for Randi's million-dollar prize.

I disagree with the book recommendation.  The best blog posts compress info way better than books.  (But yeah, they can be harder to find.)  I'd recommend the archives of lesswrong.com over most nonfiction books I've read (excluding the best textbooks, e.g. Thinking Fast and Slow is probably better than LW).
