Make hay while the sun shines. Difficulties are never far off. Many people cannot handle that much truth all in one post, but I dig it. Thanks, man.

I have a masters in education and I could not agree more. Our schools, including and, perhaps especially higher ed, have pitifully low expectations. We are doing an excellent job of churning out spectacularly mediocre, docile thinkers. I think I got away with reading a total of 3 good works of fiction in 6 years of college. How can that be?
I think I would enjoy poker, but being a musician has taught me to make important decisions quickly and with deadly accuracy just as well as anything I can imagine. The pay may not measure up to poker however.
In college, no one was talking about healthy eating or opening their own business either. It was all pizza, burgers and finding a good paying 9-5. Once I removed myself from the stultifying contstaints of school, work and negative people, my world was open and began to make good choices for myself. My time means something now and I guard it like a rabid animal.
Excellent post, very thought-provoking. This is Mozart v.s. Beethoven. I'd rather hear Beethoven any day. The guy pined over every note and made a lot of 10s.
Fantastic post. And I think this is pretty close to how I divide up the pie chart. But I am not so sure sure that people like Bartok went 2/3 on his music and the world is a better place for it.
Excellent post! What a great point it is to make that "preferring" is often not considered because it is so extreme. But that is what it takes to make real change happen. As far as food goes, my wife and I dropped the cheat days too. Fatty, salty, sugary items just are not as appealing as they once were. For me, a Fuji apple totally blows away a Snickers.
