Worth a shot. Where do you find fresh grass-fed beef? Last I checked, even my local Whole Foods didn't carry such a thing - and if they did, it sure wouldn't be "cheap."

Huh. Beef with cucumber is a pairing I'd never have thought of - definitely one I'm going to try. Why do you prefer your beef raw? I'm not even sure I have a source of fresh (non-frozen) grass-fed ground beef.

Reading this made me smile at the contrast, so hard to reconcile, between the normal and relaxed guy I've met a couple of times, and the extreme dietary rigidity described here.

Reply to Consistency is the Hard Part

Maybe nothing "went wrong." Maybe it is possible to be consistent at one, or two, or three things - but not at the twenty or thirty that you (and I) aspire to. Especially not with the traveling that you do.

I do wonder whether daily grading is best - "local optimization" doesn't always lead to the best long-term results. Still figuring this out for myself.

Not a good look. Especially if any small children have recently gone missing in your neighborhood.

You have at least one healthy footwear choice always available, appropriate (and healthy) for most situations.

Custom molded earplugs from sstshop.com are much easier to insert - squeezing the foam plugs gets old. They're good for sleeping - also recommended for motorcycle riding and shooting.

Seeking peak experiences is fine. Your adventures make fantastic anecdotes, and I'm sure are/were amazing experiences and memories.

The Buddhist meditator's perspective is a little different: (In my words) Recognize the impermanence of all things. And learn to experience the fullness of every moment, in the moment.

Interestingly, Proust, coming from a very different culture, made a very similar observation.

Google "NATO strap" to learn how you can look like Mr. Bond. These straps have the additional benefit (important when your timepiece costs more than some cars) of holding your watch on even if you bang it against something hard and one of the two pins pops out.

Even with my NATO strap, I sleep happier knowing that I will not be de-handed for my Timex.
