Second that edit/delete feature. I wrote what may be an essay in community just to find out after introspection that I've derailed and actually want to attack another more core topic instead.

We'll definitely do this at some point... probably within the next few months.
I am not totally in love with the way the comment hierarchy works. I know it's cool to have them as individual threads, but as soon as there are a few replies it looks a little messy. I'm not sure what the fix is...

Yeah, I don't think it's a perfect solution either, but I'm working on improving it bit by bit.
Any icon size is fine as long as it's square. Once I get around to it, SETT will auto-square them.
One thing you might have already noticed, as soon as you click on a post, the community bar disappears. So after reading a post you have to click on the flag and then click on community to just get back to where you were. I really, really do like this setup though man. I am just starting to see all the benefits.

Actually, I just changed that. Now if you click on the header graphic it will go back to the community section, and if you click it again it goes to the front page.
Brian pointed out that it was hard to navigate back to the community section, which is what spawned this changed. Let me know what you think of it.
Glad you're liking SETT, by the way! I like using it way more than WordPress, but that's to be expected, since I made it.
What if for comment threads, each thread was inset, but the individual posts were just all part of one 100 px inset column (as opposed to getting narrower with each reply).
The best thing I love about Sett is that comments and related replies become threads and stay neatly attached. Otherwise no one can see or understand what the original comment someone is replying to, 20 comments later. Agree that later replies to replies getting skinnier and skinnier is a problem specially if there are replies to replies to replies and so on. But, love, love, love how every reply is attached neatly to the original related comment or reply.

Having an auto draft feature (like in WordPress) would be a great addition.
When you click next / a page number on the bottom of a community page, it doesn't bring you back to the top of the list after it's changed it's content. You have to scroll back up to see things in chronological order.

After poking around, using almost all your features, etc. here's my SETT feedback. I'll do the 'feedback sandwich' so as not to hurt your feelings.
Top bun:
I would use this for my blog if you would let me, not just because we've hung out and you're a good guy.
Meat:
- Let me resize images in replies - as you can see from my reply to the 'lets make a books list' post, you can see that the two images I have are frickin huge. I was able to resize them down when I first put them on there (they were put there via url, not uploaded) but when I actually posted them, they blew back up to the original size.
- Let me delete my posts, or at least my comments- I tried to when the huge pictures showed up and I couldn't.
- Another little thing about putting in images, and a larger point about the community side of SETT - when I wrote the 'post' about 'communication extremes' I wanted to break up the length with pictures. It was inconvenient to have to scroll down to the bottom of everything to get to those buttons (could you just have them appear on the side once I decide I'm going to create a post, and then keep the menu of options floating in the middle of the page on the side so it would be easier to get at?). Also, once I scrolled down the page, I wanted to try to avoid having to move the picture from the bottom of the post up to where I want it to be inserted into the post. I put my cursor where I hoped it would end up being embedded and...it went in at the bottom of the post. The greater point here is that if you want the community side feature of SETT to matter, it has to not feel like a message board where people just post threads of random crap - you want them to think & actually create and contribute, ideally. You'd like for it all to be quality content and your voting things up and down feature helps with that. But if people are going to think of their posts as actual posts, then try to give the community entries that would be considered 'posts' an experience like they were writing an actual post on their own blog. Part of this experience includes keeping the formatting menu in view at all times, and I'm sure there's more to it - I'm not a UX pro - it just seems to be a key differentiating factor that's not captured in just 'make it easier for me to post pictures' kind of feedback. One good example of you doing this is the "posting your masterpiece" message while you're waiting for it to load.
- embedding youtube videos - I did this on my comment about the community side of SETT - put in a mobileX video and it bled off the side of the comment column
- Hyperlinks - I put a bunch of URLs into my post, instead of making them hyperlinks...again, this comes back to the "make me feel like i'm writing an actual blog post" experience....because hopefully I am and it will end up on your front page because it's so freaking quality and I get exposure and you get great content at your blog that you didn't have to write - you know...one of the main differentiating factors of SETT ;)
Bottom bun:
I would use this (meaning, I would switch from my current platform - posterous btw). Not sure you can give more of a compliment than that.
Also, I like that the bold, italics, & underline features can be activated through the standard keyboard shortcuts for them (ctrl + i, ctrl + b, etc.)
In the email newsletter, make the title link to the post on the blog.
I use the newsletter to notify me when a new post is available. But if I'm on a PC, I prefer to read it on the blog. To do this, I need to go all the way down to the end and click the link, which is not very convenient.
In the email I get from being "subscribed" it would be nice it the title in the email is were a link to the post so I can click it and also check out what the community is saying.

I'll consider this, especially if there's more interest in it. The only reason I don't implement it immediately is because it would be somewhat resource-intensive.
I think it would be great to have the option to bookmark your favorite SETT posts somewhere in your profile. This list could optionally be made public so that everyone else can see what your favorite posts on SETT are.
I could of course use the bookmarks of my browser, but somehow I never seem to return to pages I've bookmarked that way.
If you have a back, then you probably need a Deuter Futura 28.

What makes it great?
Around this time last year I asked for readers to fill a survey. One hundred and thirty people participated and really helped me understand what readers are looking for.
I used to be obsessed with getting a lot of readers, but I've been thinking lately that connecting with my existing readers is a lot more important. This stems partly from the nagging feeling that people who come here aren't getting everything they want out of the experience. Still, they're coming back, which means that they probably feel like I have the ability to deliver it.
So this year's survey is to help me understand better what BTYB means to people. I've kept it as short as possible in the hopes that many people (that means you!) will take the time to fill it out. Feel free to write one sentence or pages,I will give every submission my full attention and consideration, and I often make changes based on a single person's opinion.
