But man, Amex totally sold me as a customer recently when I bought some advertising with a really unethical company (www.collegegrad.com owned by beyond.com). Their sales guy basically completely lied to me about the response rate and their site was completely broken for long periods of time.Long story short after a month of them refusing to refund even the unused portion of my account, I just filled out the online form with Amex to have them get my money back. No questions asked, a thousand bucks was back in my account. The completely took my side and helped me give Beyond.com the finger. Recently downgraded to Gold as I was not using the concierge service service enough to make it worthwhile (somehow just couldn't make myself remember to think of it when I needed it).I am as happy with the Gold as I was with Platinum. (airport lounges are already covered for me due to frequent flyer miles). An additional benefit is that additional named users are free with Gold and Platinum, making the annual membership fee less expensive when compared with the green card.
