That's awesome, I didn't realize you were there. I ran on the last day which was rather unfortunate because of the crowds. At least I assume it was more crowded on the last day, but I don't know for sure. I'm also kinda surprised that Todd got kicked off for wearing 5 fingers. I ran in sandals and the police showed not the slightest interest. Of course there were too many people for them to check everyone. Are you going to post how the actual running went?

pot is a fairly safe drug. i like they way you're thinking about this, i don't agree that all drugs should be legalized, some are just too freakin crazy. drugs like heroin and methamphetamine cause some pretty terrible stuff, and crack is a huge cause of violent crime. the claim that legalizing and taxing drugs would reduce crime is not fully valid, because there will always be people selling the stuff under the table and not paying the taxes, plus the fact that drug rings are already established and it will take more than legalizing their product to tear them down. it is most definitely a step in the right direction though, and pot dealings are among the most peaceful anyway and are rarely the cause of violence, and if it was legalized the government could save a lot of money giving people the freedoms they deserve. the right to bear arms seems a much more dangerous right than the right to inhale a mellowing chemical, and the right to bears arms has been granted since the birth of our nation. marijuana is a drug that actually mellows you out, boosts your creativity and when used responsibly can only cause harm to the user (lung disease, etc.) and not other people. people that smoke marijuana dont go around killing people and causing havoc. many people would be willing and able to pay a tax for the right to blaze, and we this nation should let them.

With the possible exception of PCP, which is a drug of which there's (supposedly) examples of it making people violent, but generally I tend to think that we should treat adults like adults and let them decide how they like their entertainment.

I've grown up around habitual cigarette and pot smokers, and I can tell you that pot is probably better for you than cigarettes. It's still not /good/ for you, but it's better than a lot of the other legal crap out there.

I've never smoked and never will (I have smoke-related asthma, partially from growing up in such a smoke-rich environment), but I might consider drinking a tea or eating food containing it in small doses, as I've heard it can have a positive effect on the creative mind.

The one caveat I would like to add to your article is that certain drugs are illegal because they harm more than the person taking them. If you want to trip on ecstasy, good for you, but if you want to take PCP and start smashing people's windows, that's where I draw the line. Even though I'm not wiccan, I think the adage "Do as ye will an harm ye none" is applicable here. If you want to screw up your own life, feel free, but don't hurt anyone else while you're at it. That's why theft and rape are illegal, after all.

I really don't see how anyone can say, (by the greatest stretch of imagination), that the current system is working. The illegal status of drugs in this country has led to gang violence, impurity of drugs, and treatment avoidance among addicts. Drug use wasn't prosecuted as a crime until after the prohibition of alcohol ended. It's led to a massive, bloated prison economy. Something had to take the place of alcohol prohibition. The black untaxed market is thriving. Unfortunately, taxing drugs over, and above any other products (sin taxes) would cause the same problems seen with alcohol, and cigarette tax. These taxes have continued to increase, and they aren't being used for treatment. Treatment would be counter productive to collecting the taxes. People should really wake up, and pay attention to the fact that governments generally aggravate the problems that they are supposedly solving - by design. It's part of the Hegelian dialectical model, or problem-reaction-solution. It would be great if parents were able to think rationally about corruption within our own government. I predict that internet 2 will ultimately be rolled out to protect us from terrorism, or to protect the children.

What good documentaries have you seen?

Same problem for me.
There are a few movies I’ve enjoyed but most are junk. One of the options for me would be only watching time-proven movies but they are not showed in cinemas and I don’t want to invest in home cinema.

Check out the rating of a movie at www.imdb.com and stop wasting time watching movies that most people think suck anyway. I'm quite sure I'm going to enjoy or even get impressed by a movie after i've checked it at IMDB.

Keep watching movies, there are LOADS of very good ones but you have to get off the beaten tracks, thought you would know that by now traveling the world and all that. Another way to find good ones is to rely on professionals, check out http://www.afi.com/10top10/ for top American movies or check out http://www.criterion.com for top Art House films.

Basically, stop watching snacklike movies, the moment the credits roll you've forgotten what it was about. That's not a real movie expierence. A real movie will keep popping up throughout your life.

Do you feel the same about TV shows? I find movies are just better quality in general than TV.

I usually only see movies if it is a social event, that way if the movie sucks you still have fun because you are in good company. If I know a movie is gonna suck beforehand I say no, and make people do something else! I tend to check reviews at a glance to get an idea.

Also, I really enjoy good movies. Even thought I definitely have seen plenty of bad movies the good ones absolutely overshadow this.

I just go see movies because it relaxes my mind. It's probably my ADD. After them I feel really rejuvenated and refreshed, especially action, thriller and crime dramas.

I've got tickets on Saturday night for Dark Knight, being from the same country as Heath, it's like a tribute with my mates and I.

How has the plan been going so far?

I rarely take medicine, less than once a year. I get the occasional cold once a year sometimes with flu like symptoms, but it passes on its own. Aside from that, I do not get sick and rarely get headaches. Eating healthy and reducing stress seems to be a better vaccine that the medical alternatives.

On the other hand my dad does not eat healthy, has high blood pressure, gets headaches everyday, and eats advil like candy on a daily basis (which is odd to say because I don't eat candy). It would seem his condition is not genetic because I don't share the same afflictions, but more related to lifestyle.

a very good medicine is to also thank your body everyday. a little "thank you" gives your immune system more confidence.

i never take medications unless it's very necessary (in the case of phneumonia and preventing pregnancy...). but it's also because i try to boicott the pharmaceutical industry of today's world. it's a really nasty buisness.

I really agree with this thing. I rarely take medicins. Only maybe some anti-coughing syrup when I was 12. And the past 3 years (I'm 19 now) I have taken paracetamol and some stuff called diclofenacnatrium. It was because I got injured at my knee (3 times) and it got all thick (fluid in the joint making it almost double the size). It also hurt like hell. So I would need to take those pills 3 times a day and then for 2 weeks. And most of the time I would get 3 the first two days and then after one week almost none anymore. And that's about all the medicin I ever had.

Also a comment to Noora, washing your hands is ok, but don't wash them like you have mysophobia. Some bacterials on your hands could also keep your immune system up to date.

Once I was cut off from my supply of medication after moving to college, I realized that I didn't really need any of it. I could replace acid reflux medication with milk at meals and a healthier diet, I didn't really need the allergy meds, and I could sleep off a migraine (I could probably sleep off a nuclear blast, since those things are painful). I don't even remember what else I was taking, but I'm pretty sure I don't need it anymore.

I agree and disagree with you. My whole life, well since I could make my own decisions when it came to medication, I wouldn't take it. Flu, colds, rash, allergies, cough, wouldn't do it. I just don't like the idea of taking medication that could affect my body or harm me in some way. It annoys me that people are so weak and careless they take medication for every little thing. It's ridiculous. The part of your article that I disagree with is the fact that it makes you immune system stronger. You probably already had a strong healthy active immune system in the first place. I get colds at least once a month maybe more. I eat well, I'm at a perfect weight and I'm clean. I just have a crappy immune system. I think you are given a completely healthy body initially or you are not. I really don't think not taking medication and toughing it out makes a difference in that respect.

I am so glad that I found your blog. It really has given me a new view of the world compared to what I see and read from the American press. It's as if they want to scare us into staying home. Keep it up. I look forward to your next post.

yeah i waste a ton of time on digg too, it is so addictive! One way you can browse more efficiently on digg is to have an account and customize what kinds of stories it shows. Less crap to filter through that way.
