Check out my bestselling book on habits, Superhuman by Habit. .
This is ridiculous. I slept 6 hours again, incidentally during the same period that my last one happened.
I have duct taped my alarm-laptop shut and have taped carboard over the parts of my receiver which would let me turn it off.
Ahh... back on everone's favorite sleep schedule. I figured I'd be able to get a good feel for how far I was set back by my oversleep yesterday, but no... I have no idea. What I do know is that I'm exhausted, which may mean that those 9 days were for nothing. With just the possibility of that being the case, I don't think I'll ever oversleep again. Doing those 9 days over will be tough.
Every cycle has a rhythm to it, its own cycle. When I wake from a early morning nap (midnight - 7am) I usually start out a little tired, still wanting for sleep. That inevitably passes if I get up and start engaging my brain in something trivial like washing dishes or watching a tv show. Alertness follows for anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours. Eventually it comes back down, leading me back to sleep.
The sleep has its own cycle, from lying down to mental chatter, to unknowingly falling asleep, to deep dreaming, to non-REM unconsciousness, to gentle awakening. An alarm clock can interrupt anywhere in the middle of this, dictating the flow of the next waking cycle.
With the knowing that the tired feeling will pass if I just start moving, I now feel it's much easier to get up. I avoid productive work until the tired feeling is gone and replaced with alertness.
Nick peeled off the testers from magazine perfume ads and licked them. Repeatedly.
It's my 21st birthday today!!! I get to enjoy the ENTIRE day! it's actually kinda strange. I get to 1/3 more birthday fun than usual.
I just woke up from a nap a little while ago. I didn't really sleep though. It continues to happen, but I force myself to lie down and keep my eyes closed. This way I fall asleep 75% of the time, and at least catch half a nap. I'm sure that the next one will be better at 3:30. I'm gonna go treat myself to one of Ty's fabulous peanut butter smoothies. =)
I slept for 6 hours last night. DAMMIT. Starting over. I have no idea how that happened.
Studying is the kind of thing I look forward to doing all the time at night once I'm on this solid. That way I can enjoy my days and the outdoors plenty. But for now, it's tough.
I feel like I'm usually mentally between 85-90% during the day and less during the night. To study, especially boring stuff you're not interested in, you really have to be in the 95-100% range.
I'm writing a paper right now, and it's normally much easier to write than this. Same with the studying I did for a test I took Monday morning. But it is possible, so that makes me happy.
Still feeling great, although I notice my eyes are a bit inclined to close right now. Hoepfully that will go away within a few more minutes. I had a super long and complicated dream somehow... very interesting. Day 9, baby!
Just made it through the tough one.... The 6-8ish evening nap is the hardest one for me... often times redering me as useless as chopsticks. Not today, however. I'm ready to take on the whole night, and then the whole week, and then some.
I am totally on the boat. I just had a little set back. I did sleep for 5 1/2 hours in one stretch, so I am just starting my count over. Tonight will be night #1 again, for bet purposes. That puts night 14 on November 27th. I can handle that.
Manish: No. You don't have to start over according to me. The cut off on oversleeping should be 4 hours. That is half a night's sleep. I decided to start over, cause I woke up feeling so great and rested. So I knew that I totally fucked up the sleep pattern by over sleeping so much.
