As I wrote in a previous article, I stayed for a few days in the Luxor Penthouse Suite. It's available only to high rollers and is about 4800 sqft. Because I had previously always wanted to see the inside of one of these suites, I took a few minutes and snapped some pictures for you.
We have plans to go back to Vegas already. The Golden Nugget is going to fly us out to Vegas, and then fly to Houston via private jet to see the Miami Heat vs. Houston Rockets game. I'm not actually a basketball fan, but I like seeing games live and have always wanted to ride in a private jet. Also, the Luxor has invited us to see the Mosley vs. Vargas boxing match. Expect pictures of both, and many other events to come...

As some of you may know, I paint my nails silver. Why? Everyone always asks, but the real answer is just because I think it's cool.

The salon in the Wynn is gorgeous. It's huge and very well decorated. As they do at many spas, they offered me a drink. I don't drink, so I got water. It always strikes me as a weird offer, though. I manage to take a few sips, and then my hands are being worked on for a little over an hour, making it impossible to drink the water.
I'm wearing an offensively soft egyptian terry cotton robe right now. I just got out of the solid marble steam room that's in my bathroom. Before that I was soaking with some lavender sea salts in the raised jacuzzi tub, also off my bedroom. Before that I was having my ass kissed by a variety of casino employees.
That's right, I'm in the penthouse suite of the Luxor hotel.
Yesterday a friend of mine called me to ask how to play Blackjack. He was at the luxor playing rather large hands of blackjack. So large, in fact, that they offered him the penthouse suite, which must be at least 4000 sq. ft. He offered to fly me up to occupy the second bedroom of the suite. At first I declined - I don't like to accept favors I can't repay.

I had woken up naturally after about 15 minutes of sleep, and as I was drifting back into dreamland, I realized that I was sleeping right as I started to dream. I thought "wow... let's try out this lucid dream stuff" and leapt off some stairs. I hit the pavement and it felt like real pain, although it didn't last. Then I figured that I needed to think about flying, and as soon as I did, I could feel myself being yanked way into the air.
It was a strange experience. I could barely see what was happening in the dream... everything was really fuzzy. But I could feel it as if it was actually happening. I woke up after just a minute or so.

I think these are pretty challenging yet realistic goals. It's important to remember that I have much more time than the average person, thanks to my polyphasic sleep schedule.
I apologize for the lack of updates over the past week. I went to Boston and Vermont and brought only my tiny laptop (Libretto U105) with me. Besides being busy spending time with my family, the keyboard of the Libretto doesn't lend itself to lengthy updates.

The first night I slept 3 hours extra (seems like the magic number, doesn't it?), and the second night I didn't try - I overslept by almost 6 hours.
So the bad news is that I did oversleep by 75 minutes last night. I somehow slept through the compressor going off, which is mind boggling.
However, I'm looking forward to starting the Polynappers of the Future Fund. If any of you have good ideas for how we can spend the money, post it in the comments. We have $1000, and I think the first purchase will be buying two copies of the Claudio Stampi book. I read it last time I attempted this schedule and found it interesting.
The good news is that today has been rock solid, for me at least. I had three sketchy naps, two in cars and one in the plane, but I still felt refreshed each time. Right now I feel great, and I have only an hour and a half until my next nap. I'm extremely psyched about the schedule and I'm really looking forward to using it now that I'm here in Massachusetts with my family.
With only one more night to get through before the end of Bet #2, we're both still in it. There have been a few scary times, but mostly we both feel like we've been doing better than ever. When we get back from our holidays, maybe we'll start a new bet.
Steve Pavlina wrote about us in his latest blog entry because we bought him a flat panel monitor to thank him for inspiring us. If you read my old blog, then you probably saw that this is my third attempt to get on the sleep schedule. However, each time I gave up because I felt like it was impossible. Seeing Steve do it gave me the determination to press through the hard part, and now here I am on day 45+.
I'll be going to my grandparents house for Christmas, which will pose a unique set of challenges. Mainly, the others in my family aren't particularly supportive of this decision, so they certainly won't help me wake up. My solution is to pay my little cousins to wake me up. I'll post some updates from there to let you guys know how it goes. As it stands, it's 11:30pm the night before I have a morning flight, and I haven't even started packing. So much time to do everything I need to do... it's fantastic.
So recently Manish and I have been lazy about oversleeping and it has gotten out of control. I had two nights in a row where I overslept by a total of four hours. Manish has two nights with almost seven hours each. Not acceptable!
So... here's the deal. Each of us are putting up $1000. If ONE of us (no matter which) oversleeps for an hour or more, we have to each give up half our money. If both oversleep, we both give up our whole thousand.
Where does the money go? The Polynappers of Tomorrow Fund, which we'll create. People who are attempting the schedule can write us applications and if accepted we will buy them a good sleep mask, travel pillow, and loud portable alarm clock. If they succeed, it's theirs to keep. If they fail they send it back and send an additional $20 which gets added to the fund. At no point will Manish or I benefit from the fund, even if it grows to over $1000. We will also buy two copies of Claudio Stampi's book and loan them to anyone on request.
I had a total disaster of a day these past 24 hours. 30-60 minute oversleeps all over the place. We're talking 3.5-4 hours total.
The biggest problem was that my new wakeup MP3 wasn't effective. Volume was a bit lower and it faded into the Eminem song rather than jumping into it. My sleeping is so deep now that it's pretty tough to wake me up. Went back to the old MP3... the seagulls weren't so bad.
Thinking about having two options for naps - 25 minute and 35 minute. I'll use the 35 minute one when I'm not very tired, to allow some time to fall asleep. As an experiment today I held a remote in my hand and pressed the button every once in a while to see how long I was actually awake for. That 25 minute nap was 10 minutes of sleep and 15 minutes trying to fall asleep.
