Does anyone on here know if there is any way to find out where a real call is coming from when someone is using a spoofed phone number? We talked to the local police department and they said there isn't much they can do. I'd just like to find out for sure if these are all coming from a company.
Backstory: Recently our home phone line is receiving unsolicited calls pumping us for information on apartments we have for rent. We use a cell phone for business so we know anyone that calls the home line isn't looking for an apartment. I know these are unsolicited as they are always out of state area codes on the caller ID and when they say where they are from, it never matches up....so I think that they are spoofing their phone number. The caller always says that they saw an ad on google or another website that we don't advertise with, I tried to search those sites and nothing comes up, so I know it's not a robot pulling my ad from the site I use....When we ask for a name, or to set-up an appointment, they never want to leave their name or set-up an appointment. We think it's either a real estate company looking for information on price values in our area, maybe a listing agent, or property assessor, but it's getting annoying and just want it to stop.
(For those RSS readers who didn't check out the comments on yesterday's post, yes, it was an April Fools day hoax.)
As you probably know, when I get into anything I take it to an extreme and often unreasonable level. Now my phone is no exception.
I already had a pretty cool phone setup. I ported my cell phone number to callcentric.com, a VOIP provider, who then forwarded it to my local cell phone. There were three problems with this, though:
Last week's Get Some Victory newsletter laid out a simple gameplan to get to know more people. Got some good questions about it -
I appreciate the possibility of the web for making valuable relationships. Before some time a guy interested in marketing come by my blog. In the blog there is a category about marketing. He contacted me offering to swap cases or problems to solve. First he tested me with a case to see if he will be interested in the cooperation. He liked my solution to his case. We talked over skype for things of mutual interest and a relationship started. Although we dropped the thing with solving cases we help each other with information or advice.
This is a good case of creating a valuable connection by Internet. I wish to connect with more people like that and create a mutual beneficial relationship.
The problem I encounter with creating valuable relationships over Internet is how to frame, approach the situation so the result to be productive relationship. I guess there will be failures, people are different . I need an approach that will lead the contact in a mutal beneficial relationship or by other word to help each other with our problems concerning mutual interests.
